The 18-year-old completed her routine in historical fashion with the best
score ever in a women's short program, 76.12 points, and a 207.71 overall. Kim
also became the first female to surpass the 200-point mark.
The world championship victory establishes Kim as the gold medal favorite for
the Winter Olympics at Vancouver 11 months from now. Canada's Joanie Rochette
took silver while Miki Ando of Japan won bronze.
