Huangdi was born over 4,000 years ago. He is regarded as the builder of the
foundation of Chinese civilization. Legend says Huangdi devised the first
calendar in China. He was given the title "Yellow Emperor" because his tribe
honored the virtue of the Earth, which was yellow.
Huangdi joined his ministers to mint bronze money and practice medicine. He
also invented boats, raised silkworms and divided his realm into provinces.
Legend has it that Huangdi rode a dragon to heaven on his 100th birthday. Today,
the Dragon has become a symbol of the spirit of China.
