Traditional Ghode Jatra celebrated in Kathmandu


Relatives carry the Living Goddess Kumari (C), as she is brought to witness of the Ghode Jatra or Horse Racing Festival in Kathmandu, capital of Nepal, on March 26, 2009. The traditional Ghode Jatra was celebrated in Kathmandu on Thursday. Nepali Army usually organizes horse racing, acrobatics performance and other activities to mark the annual festival. It is believed that the clamor of horses' hooves on Ghode Jatra keeps the spirit of the demon Tundi at bay.(Xinhua/Bimal Gautam)
